New energy car company BYD (BYD) has just unveiled another new product in Thailand, it's the pure electric six-passenger MPV BYD M6, which focuses on the low-end and mid-range market positioning, and this BYD M6 is priced locally between 829,900 and 929,900 baht.

The BYD M6 was actually unveiled at the GIIAS International Motor Show in Indonesia two months ago, and it was the right-hand drive version that was unveiled at that time, so BYD has long since started to tease that they will be introducing this purely electric MPV to the Southeast Asian market, and after Thailand, Malaysia may also introduce this MPV.

In Thailand, the BYD M6 is available in Dynamic and Extended versions, with the Extended version carrying a larger battery capacity, so it's effectively a range-extended version. Both the standard Dynamic and Extended versions are powered by the same front-mounted motor, although the power output is different.

The standard Dynamic has 163PS and 310Nm of torque, and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 10.1 seconds, while the range-extended Extended has 204PS and 310Nm of torque, and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds.

The Dynamic version packs a 55.4kWh battery with an officially announced range of 420km (NEDC test standard) and supports DC fast charging of up to 85kW and a standard AC charging protocol of 7kW, while the range-extended version of the Extended has 71.8kWh for a range of 530km, but supports DC fast charging of up to 115kW. Meaning they both take around half an hour to charge to 80 per cent.

The M6 unveiled in Thailand, like the one unveiled earlier at the Indonesia Motor Show, is a slightly revised model with dimensions of 4,710 x 1,810 x 1,690mm (LxWxH) and a wheelbase of 2,800mm.

As a comparison, the discontinued Toyota Estima had body dimensions of 4795 x 1820 x 1730mm and a wheelbase of 2950mm, while the Toyota Wish, which is also discontinued, was 4560 x 1695 x 1590mm and had a wheelbase of 2750mm, so the BYD M6's body dimensions are in between those of the Wish and the Estima, but the overall dimensions are a little closer to those of the The overall dimensions are closer to the Estima.

In terms of equipment, the BYD M6 comes with a traditional pointer-type instrument panel, but with a 5-inch LCD driver information display and a rotatable screen host in the centre, which is 10.1 and 12.8 inches in size depending on the variant, and also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in international markets.

In addition to the BYD M6, it also comes standard with a cable-controlled gearshift lever, NFC keycard, single-zone automatic climate control, rear-seat air vents, automatic anti-glare mirrors, leather seats, 360-degree surround-view camera system, V2L reverse power supply, and the higher-end Extended range extender comes with a panoramic glass sunroof, electric seats with air-conditioning and ventilation, a Qi wireless charging panel, and a power tailgate. charging panel and electric tailgate.

In terms of safety equipment, the Thai M6 comes with six airbags and ESC as standard, but only the higher-priced Extended Range version of the BYD M6 comes with higher-specification semi-autonomous driver assistance packages, such as ACC, AEB, LCA and BSM.
