BYD Sealion 7: A Buyer's Guide to the SUV Taking on Tesla Worldwide
The BYD Sealion 7, sold as the Sea Lion 07 in China, is one of BYD's key global SUV models. It is available as both a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and, in selected markets, a DM-i plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The latest BEV offers up to 720 km (CLTC) of driving range, while the DM-i version provides a combined range of over 1,500 km (CLTC). In China, the DM-i starts at ¥139,800. As of mid-2026, the Sealion 7 is being exported to more than 30 countries across Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa, with right-hand-drive production available for selected markets.
