Exterior Design: Rugged Styling with Enhanced Details
The new Explorer 4WD Off-Road Edition continues the bold and commanding design language of the current model. At the front, a large chrome dot-matrix grille is flanked by blacked-out LED headlights, creating a cohesive and aggressive visual impact. The clean lower bumper design and chrome-accented air vents at the fenders enhance both aerodynamics and premium feel.

Along the sides, smooth body lines are paired with sturdy roof rails and a signature slanted C-pillar. A continuous waistline adds depth to the profile, while black wheel arches and side skirts reinforce its off-road character. At the rear, blacked-out full-width taillights, a compact spoiler, and dual exhaust accents contribute to a wide and powerful appearance. In terms of size, the vehicle measures 5063/2004/1778mm (L/W/H) with a 3025mm wheelbase, maintaining the same dimensions as the current model and positioning it as a mid-to-large SUV.

Interior Features: A Smart, Tech-Focused Cabin
The new Explorer boasts a tech-oriented interior with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 27-inch panoramic center touchscreen. It is equipped with an upgraded SYNC+ 3.0 infotainment system powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, and enhanced with Baidu AI voice recognition. The system supports CarPlay, navigation, voice commands, and continuous voice instructions for a smoother, smarter user experience.Key features include a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, heated/ventilated front seats, rear air vents, a power tailgate, keyless entry, and rear privacy glass—all standard across the range, balancing luxury with functionality.

Seating Layout: First-Ever Five-Seat Configuration
For the first time in the Explorer lineup, the Off-Road Edition introduces a new 2+3 five-seat layout, making it the only five-seater in the family. The front seats are wrapped in synthetic leather, offering a balance of comfort and support, and come with electric adjustment, heating/ventilation, and heated steering wheel functions. The second-row seats are manually adjustable, with sliding and folding capabilities for improved comfort and ease of access.

Space Performance: Spacious and Storage-Friendly
Thanks to the 3025mm long wheelbase, the Explorer offers excellent space for both front and rear passengers. In real-world tests, a 1.75m-tall occupant sitting in the second row enjoys generous legroom and headroom. Despite the coupe-style roofline, rear headroom remains unaffected. With the third row removed, trunk capacity expands to an impressive 1505L—perfect for long trips or outdoor gear. Additional hidden compartments and movable dividers below the trunk floor offer smart storage for tools, spare tires, and more.

Powertrain: Robust Performance with Extended Range
Under the hood, the new Explorer continues to use a 2.3T EcoBoost engine, delivering 213kW of maximum power and 445N·m of peak torque. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the powertrain provides strong, smooth performance. Notably, the fuel tank capacity has increased from 73L to 81L, improving total driving range by 88–106km, based on an estimated fuel consumption of 11–12L/100km—ideal for long-distance travel.

Safety Structure: Class-Leading Use of High-Strength Steel
The new Explorer boasts a high-strength body structure, with ultra-high-strength steel (1300MPa or above) making up 38.6% of the vehicle (materials above 600MPa account for 50.8%), significantly ahead of competitors like the VW Talagon (27%) and BMW X5 (max 1300MPa). Reinforced cross beams in all ABCD pillars allow the vehicle to withstand 11.5 tons of pressure and support five times its own weight on the roof—ensuring top-tier protection in extreme conditions.

Driver Assistance Systems: Smart Safety All the Way
The vehicle is equipped with BlueCruise active driving assistance and the Co-Pilot 360 system, including full-speed adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane keeping assist (LKA), blind spot monitoring (BLIS), reverse camera, front and rear parking sensors, and tire pressure monitoring. These features greatly enhance driving convenience and road safety.
