Lixiang i8 is here! Will it be priced under $60,000 and surpass L8 to become the new flagship?

Li Auto’s i-Series is not only a line of pure electric vehicles but also represents Lixiang’s push towards greater intelligence in automotive technology. As a key model in this lineup, the Lixiang i8 will feature Li Auto’s next-generation assisted driving architecture—MindVLA.

In terms of exterior design, the i8 follows the family design language of Lixiang’s pure EVs, inherited from the MEGA model. Its overall dimensions are similar to those of the Lixiang L8, but with a longer wheelbase, offering a more spacious interior.

The dimensions of the Lixiang i8 are 5085mm in length, 1960mm in width, and 1740mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3050mm, placing it firmly in the mid-to-large SUV segment.

Reportedly, the i8 will be equipped with the new Hesai ATX LiDAR, which offers a maximum detection range of 300 meters and supports up to 256 lines with high resolution. It is expected to be paired with NVIDIA’s Drive AGX Thor-U chip, which delivers a computing power of 500 TOPS—twice that of the current mainstream Orin-X chip—and is capable of supporting L3-level autonomous driving.

In terms of performance, the Lixiang i8 comes standard with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, with the front and rear motors generating 150kW and 250kW of power, respectively. It will also feature a 5C ternary lithium battery pack, offering two range options: 670 km and 720 km, delivering a strong balance between performance and endurance.

Li Auto has shown consistent growth in the market. In June 2024 alone, the company delivered 36,279 vehicles, with total deliveries in Q2 reaching 111,074 units. It’s worth noting that even the brand’s most affordable model is priced above $35,000, demonstrating strong competitiveness in its segment.

With the upcoming launch of the Lixiang i8, the brand is expected to further expand its product portfolio and set new benchmarks in intelligent EV technology. Whether the i8 can continue Li Auto’s strong sales momentum and break new records remains to be seen—but expectations are high.
