The front-end design of the BYD Yangwang U8 L Ultimate Edition represents a pinnacle fusion of modern industrial aesthetics and profound Eastern cultural heritage. It is not only a visual focal point but also rich in expressions of prestige and technological ingenuity. A design language centered around the “Ding” runs throughout: a precise array of 198 diamond-shaped LED light beads outlines a dignified and imposing “Ding”-shaped silhouette, which, when illuminated, resembles a colossal ritual vessel standing tall and radiating an aura of quiet authority. The 24K pure gold–crafted oracle-bone-script “Electric” emblem, combined with multiple gold decorative accents across the body, not only reinforces its executive-level luxury positioning but also elevates its sense of prestige to the fullest. Beneath the full and commanding front profile, the blacked-out front bumper and minimalist wheel-arch design subtly soften the ruggedness typical of off-road vehicles. The LED daytime running lights work in harmony with the adaptive high- and low-beam system, ensuring nighttime driving safety while enhancing overall refinement. The roof-mounted triple-lidar layout resembles an ancient beacon tower, serving both as the hardware core of advanced intelligent driving and a highly recognizable design signature on the front fascia, achieving a perfect balance between luxury and technology.
From the side, the BYD Yangwang U8 L Ultimate Edition continues the “Ding-inspired aesthetics” of the front, with its elongated 5,400 mm body forming a visual symphony through a black-and-gold dual-tone finish. The side skirts are body-colored, while the exterior mirrors and D-pillar energy towers are finished in black, complemented by sunflare-gold decorative accents that preserve visual cohesion while concealing luxurious details. The 23-inch eight-hole forged wheels are not only a breakthrough in size; their floating center caps draw inspiration from the ear-shaped handles of ancient Ding vessels, appearing like ceremonial patterns brought to life when in motion. The side window frames feature hidden chrome treatment, creating a floating effect with the obsidian-black roof, while the waistline ornamentation inspired by Warring States–era gold-inlay craftsmanship presents a three-dimensional texture reminiscent of “gold-thread-inlaid jade” as light shifts across the surface. This design, which translates bronze casting techniques into a vehicle design language, allows this 5.4-meter giant to appear as steady as a ritual Ding when stationary, and like a flowing Eastern palace when in motion.
At the rear, the Yangwang U8 L 2025 redefines the functional aesthetics of full-size SUVs with its “Heaven Gate and Earth Gate” split tailgate structure. After eliminating the externally mounted spare tire, the tailgate adopts a vertically split design: the upper tailgate opens up to 90 degrees and is equipped with an electric sunshade, instantly transforming into an open-air viewing platform; the lower tailgate supports up to 200 kg and unfolds into a 1.2 m × 0.8 m leisure platform. Paired with hidden folding seats, it perfectly embodies the Eastern concept of relaxed social moments at the rear of the vehicle. The taillight assembly uses a full-width black crystal panel, with 198 LED light beads inside echoing the “Ding” motif of the front fascia. When illuminated at night, it appears deep and mysterious, like the patterns on a bronze Ding.
Inside the cabin, the Yangwang U8 L adopts a symmetrical layout and offers two color schemes: black-brown and purple-gray. The black-brown interior is paired with black walnut wood trim, while the purple-gray interior features teak wood accents. The center console is equipped with a 12.8-inch curved OLED display, flanked by a 23.6-inch full-width instrument cluster and a front passenger multimedia screen, along with an AR-HUD head-up display system. The vehicle features a four-spoke capacitive steering wheel and a column-mounted gear selector. The auxiliary console area includes physical buttons and a wireless phone charging pad. A 2+2+2 six-seat layout is adopted, with all seats upholstered in Nappa leather. The front seats feature electrically extendable leg rests, while the second row is equipped with zero-gravity seats. The inner armrests include integrated control screens, and the second-row seats also offer electric leg rests, one-touch zero-gravity mode, and 18-point massage functions. The third-row seats additionally provide a heated center armrest.
In terms of powertrain, the Yangwang U8 L continues the power system of the current Yangwang U8, featuring a range-extender setup composed of a 2.0T engine and electric motors. It delivers a combined output of 880 kW and a combined torque of 1,280 N·m, and is equipped with the YunNian-P intelligent hydraulic body control system. Double wishbone independent suspension is used at both the front and rear.
