XPENG is preparing to unveil its G9L flagship SUV at the 2026 Paris Motor Show on October 12, following the model's first production trial at Magna's facility in Graz, Austria. The launch will mark the next stage of XPENG's European expansion, with European pricing and order books scheduled to be announced at the event.

The G9L, which launched in China on September 17, is XPENG's largest SUV to date at 5,120 mm long. It represents the company's most advanced application of its "physical AI" technology, with intelligent driving hardware powered by the same Turing AI chip used in XPENG's IRON humanoid robot.

What Makes the G9L Different

The G9L sits above the existing G9 in XPENG's lineup, with a 5,120 mm length and 3,100 mm wheelbase that positions it in the large SUV segment. In the Chinese market, it is configured as a five-seater - XPENG describes it as a "golden 5-seater" built on a 6-seater-size platform, prioritizing rear passenger space and cargo volume over a third row.

Technologically, the G9L is positioned as an "AI-defined vehicle." It runs on XPENG's VLA 2.0 foundation model and uses the company's in-house Turing AI chip - the same chip deployed in XPENG's IRON humanoid robot.

Powertrain and Charging

The G9L is available in both battery-electric (BEV) and range-extender (REEV) versions in China. All BEV trims use XPENG's full-domain 800V high-voltage silicon carbide platform with 5C supercharging capability.

Battery-Electric Versions
Version CLTC Range Battery China MSRP
702 Max (RWD) 702 km 91.9 kWh LFP 241,800 RMB (~$34,500)
660 Ultra SE (AWD) 660 km 91.9 kWh LFP 259,800 RMB (~$37,100)
660 Ultra (AWD) 660 km 91.9 kWh LFP 289,800 RMB (~$41,400)
755 Ultra Flagship (AWD) 755 km 110 kWh NCM 319,800 RMB (~$45,700)

The top AWD flagship produces 423 kW (575 HP) with 695 Nm of torque. XPENG's 5C supercharging system, when connected to a compatible high-power charger, can add up to approximately 530 km of CLTC range in 12 minutes. The battery packs are rated IP68 for dust and water protection.

Range-Extender Version

The REEV variant pairs an electric motor with a gasoline range extender, delivering a combined CLTC range of up to 1,602 km. This version targets markets or use cases where charging infrastructure is limited, and is expected to be relevant for export buyers in regions with less developed fast-charging networks.

European Production and Market Plans

The G9L's European production trial at Magna's Graz plant is a significant milestone. It becomes the fourth XPENG model to be assembled at the Austrian facility - following the G6, G9, and P7+ - and shares production lines with European luxury brands.

At the Paris Motor Show, XPENG will hold its global launch press conference on October 12 at 11:10 AM, open European order books and announce European pricing, demonstrate its NGP intelligent driving system as part of the show's official Autonomous Lab program (alongside Tesla), and showcase its broader "Physical AI Museum."

XPENG's booth will span more than 1,000 square meters. The company reports over 100,000 overseas deliveries to date, including over 60,000 in Europe, and more than 6,000 vehicles delivered in France since entering the market two years ago.

Intelligent Driving: What to Expect for European Buyers

One of the G9L's key technology features is its intelligent driving system, powered by XPENG's VLA 2.0 foundation model. In China, the system supports both highway and urban NGP (Navigate on Piloting).

For European buyers, the rollout of intelligent driving features will be gradual and adapted to local conditions. XPENG operates a European R&D center in Munich that is localizing the technology for European roads, traffic environments, and regulatory requirements.

Safety Engineering

XPENG states that the G9L was engineered to target five-star ratings across four major global safety assessment protocols: Euro NCAP, ANCAP, C-NCAP, and CIASI. According to the company, the development program included extensive
crash testing and global road testing.

What This Means for Export Buyers

For importers and distributors evaluating Chinese EVs, the G9L represents a notable proposition for several reasons:

1. Local European production - Assembled at Magna Graz, the G9L benefits from European manufacturing quality standards and potentially shorter supply chains.

2. Dual powertrain strategy - The BEV+REEV approach means the model can serve markets at different stages of charging infrastructure development.
3. Technology positioning - 800V architecture, 5C charging, and AI-powered driving assistance distinguish the G9L from legacy-brand SUVs.
4. Expanding dealer network - XPENG's growing European presence means after-sales support is developing, though coverage varies by country.

Potential buyers should note that European pricing, warranty terms, and service network details will be clarified at the Paris Motor Show and may vary across markets. The CLTC range figures will differ from WLTP ratings once European homologation is complete.
